CSV import skipped some contacts
Find out why a line in your CSV did not become a contact, and fix the file.
Where to find it
Campaigns › Prospects › Import
Open this screen
Steps
- Compare the number in the toast (“Imported {n} prospects”) with the lines you pasted.
- Check the skipped lines against the reasons below, fix them in your CSV and import just those lines again.
- If the same person is now in the list twice, merge them on Revenue › Data hygiene.
Troubleshooting
A line was skipped without a message.
A line needs a contact_name or a company. Lines with neither are not imported.
A line with a phone number was skipped.
The number could not be read as a dialable number. Add the country code (for example +1), or fill the country column for a local number.
A contact I expected is missing.
Its number is already in your phone book, so the line was treated as a duplicate and not added again.
An imported contact shows the stage “Do not call”.
The number is on your do-not-call list. It is kept for reporting but will not be dialled. Remove it from the list in Do-not-call & rules only if the person agreed to be called again.
The import shows “Campaign not found.”
The campaign chosen in the dialog no longer exists. Choose another one or “None”.
Columns ended up in the wrong fields.
The header row must name the columns exactly: company, contact_name, phone, email, country, city. A comma inside a field splits it, so remove commas from names and addresses.
Tips
- Import a small test list first to check your columns.
Good to know
- The toast reports only the imported count; duplicates and unreadable lines are not listed one by one.
Related how-tos
- Import contacts from a CSV Add a whole list of contacts at once by pasting CSV text.
- Merge duplicates and see churn risk Merge contacts that share a phone number or email without losing history, and see which accounts risk leaving.
- Do-not-call & rules Keep the numbers that must never be called, see what the calling rules refused, check a number and its consent, and block unwanted callers.
