A call was refused: no line, no caller ID, no agent or calling not set up

Fix the set-up refusals that stop every call, and see which ones only the platform operator can fix.

Where to find it

Calls › Dialer, Calls › Outbound call agents

Open this screen
A set-up refusal in the dialer naming who can fix it, with a link.

Steps

  1. Run the Self-test on Calls › Outbound call agents: it shows, per line, why the agent cannot call yet, without ringing anyone.
  2. Fix what you can: set up a line under Settings › Phone lines, request a number on Settings › Phone numbers, link your AI agent on the AI agents page.
  3. For simulator mode, the carrier account, the public URL or AI answering, ask the platform operator.

Troubleshooting

"Your workspace has no phone line for the AI agent to call from."

An owner or admin sets up a line first (Settings › Phone lines).

"There is no number to call from (caller ID)."

Request a number for this workspace on the Phone numbers page.

"This workspace has no AI agent of its own linked, so there is no one to hold the conversation."

Link your agent (and its knowledge base) on the AI agents page.

"Only an owner, admin or manager can have the AI agent place calls."

Ask one of them, or call the contact yourself.

"AI answering is not configured on this service yet, so the agent cannot talk on calls."

Ask the platform operator to configure AI answering.

"The public URL of this service is not set, so the carrier cannot reach the agent."

Ask the platform operator to set the public URL.

"Telephony is in simulator mode, so no real phone can ring from this deployment."

Ask the platform operator to switch the provider to Twilio.

"The carrier account (Twilio) is not set up, so no real phone can ring yet."

Ask the platform operator to add the carrier account.

Tips

  • Each refusal says who can fix it: you, an owner or admin of this workspace, or only the platform operator.

Good to know

  • None of these are about the person you call: once they are fixed, each number still passes the calling rules.
