Test incoming and outgoing calls
Try your line before switching it on: on screen, on your own phone, and with your agent calling a number.
Where to find it
Home › Setup wizard › Test incoming and outgoing calls (or a line's settings)
Open this screen
Steps
- Open Home › Setup wizard and go to Test incoming and outgoing calls (step 6).
- Under Talk on screen, press Start the conversation and talk to your agent on screen.
- Under Hear it on a real phone, enter your number and press Call my phone with this line.
- Under Have the agent call a number, have your agent call your own phone.
- If a call is refused, read the reason shown and fix it.
Troubleshooting
"An on-screen test does not show that real calls reach your number. That needs the phone line connected to Twilio."
The on-screen test uses the same engine but no phone. Use the real-phone test to check your number.
Tips
- "Ringing" is shown only after the carrier accepts the call.
- You can talk over the agent at any time: it stops speaking and listens to you. A short "uh-huh" or "yes" does not interrupt it.
Good to know
- Real-phone tests are real, billed calls.
- The test step is optional.
